Swimming In Awkward

A memoir from the mission field.

My heart was landing heavy. The plane that held me and my family of six hovered for a long time in a landing pattern, giving me plenty of time to look down on what would be our new home, our new life. The icy blue that seemed to cover the mountains like a blanket of cold made me wonder what would happen to us, how this story would play out. I looked at my family for what would unknowingly be the last time. Not because we were going to die, but because we were going to change. Forever.
